How to compare two motorcycles or cars
Before comparing, select the same or clearly stated model year and specification. Equipment, market, homologation, and measurement methods can significantly change the result.
| Criterion | What to check | Common pitfall |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Base price, optional extras, registration and financing costs. | Comparing a base version with a fully loaded one. |
| Consumption | The same test cycle, or transparently described driving conditions. | Mixing official figures with owners' real-world consumption. |
| Performance | Power, torque, acceleration and measurement conditions. | Drawing conclusions from peak power alone. |
| Weight | State clearly whether it is dry weight or ready-to-ride weight. | Comparing weights defined in different ways. |
| Maintenance | Service intervals, consumables, warranty and local availability of servicing. | Estimating total cost from the price of a single service. |
| Practicality | Comfort, space, weather protection, luggage and typical route. | Declaring a winner without a defined use case. |
| Safety | Equipment, results of relevant tests and test conditions. | Comparing ratings from different protocols as if they were the same. |
A motorcycle for every day or for touring?
In town, low-speed weight, turning circle, consumption and the cost of consumables may matter more. For long routes, comfort, wind protection, range, load capacity and the service network may weigh more.
There is no universal winner — the criteria depend on how the vehicle is used.
Combustion engine or electric car?
Compare the total costs for your own driving profile: annual mileage, energy prices, home charging, servicing, insurance, depreciation and trips beyond your usual routes.
The result changes with local prices and charging conditions; state your assumptions and the date of the prices.
How we will publish comparisons on Okretaji
- We state the exact models, versions and years.
- We tie every figure to a source, or clearly mark it as our own calculation.
- We distinguish manufacturer data, independent measurements and owners' experience.
- For cost calculations we publish our assumptions and do not present them as universal facts.
- Where there is no reliable data, we will say so explicitly instead of filling the gap with guesswork.
Note: this page is a methodology guide, not a claim that any model is better than another. Specific comparisons need their own sources and a clearly stated data date.
