Moto Guzzi The Trip: the return of an accessible roadster in the 500cc class

The Trip is conceived as a modern, more accessible entry into the world of Moto Guzzi: classic roadster form, twin-cylinder engine and the equipment we expect from a new motorcycle for everyday riding.

Moto Guzzi The Trip has been announced as a medium-small displacement roadster with a 500 cc parallel-twin engine. The concept is clear: to offer a motorcycle that looks and feels like a proper road machine, yet remains accessible to riders with an A2 licence and those who are not looking for extreme performance.

What does the engineering bring?

Alongside electronic throttle control (ride-by-wire), three riding modes, a 3.6-inch TFT display and smartphone connectivity have been announced. These are features that bring the motorcycle closer to modern competition, while displacement and power suggest an emphasis on usability rather than chasing the highest number on paper.

Around 48 hp places it at the upper limit of the A2 class. This makes it interesting for beginners wanting a more serious motorcycle for longer trips, as well as more experienced riders who value ease of use over brutal acceleration. A weight of approximately 180 kilograms and a seat height of 790 mm should make everyday manoeuvring easier, though the actual impression will depend on weight distribution and ergonomics.

Where does it fit into the lineup?

In the 500 cc class, buyers nowadays expect good equipment, reasonable fuel economy and a price that does not cross into the middle or large displacement territory. Moto Guzzi will have to justify its character and build quality against numerous Japanese and European competitors. For now, we do not have a confirmed final price for the Croatian market, so we will not speculate.

When is it arriving?

The unveiling is tied to EICMA 2026, with the first deliveries to dealerships announced for early 2027. Final specifications, homologation data, pricing and market availability must be confirmed in sales documentation. Therefore, the stated figures should be read as announced data rather than the results of an independent test.

Our conclusion: The Trip makes sense if Moto Guzzi manages to combine recognisable design, a smooth engine and a competitive price. A2 power alone is not enough to make it a good choice โ€” comfort, build quality, dealer support and on-road behaviour will be the deciding factors.
